About this site

This is the """blog""" of the "Bindle Institute". Here we will be posting the latest updates, events, news, treatises, whatever. To be so real it may be mostly/entirely me Trav Fryer who writes all the posts. I am exploring how to make it collaborative.

Most posts will not go out as emails. I endeavor to send emails a couple times a year. You can sign up at the bottom of the page if you like.

Eventually there may be a way for you to become some kind of recurring payment member of this if you want. Subscriptions is a feature of the cool-ass platform called Ghost that this is built on. I'm hosting mine with the worker co-op I'm part of, Autonomic. We can host one for you too if you want!! It's like an open source Patreon.

Zettelwirtschaft is a word I learned in Berlin that means, "to have everything on scraps of paper, to have notes jotted down all over the place" or as the Inky Fool puts it, "slips of paper cavorting like drunks in a bar at midnight". Someone I met at Offline told me that's what Germans might call the stack of notes clipped to a piece of cigar box I carry around. He said his dad used to refer to his desk as a zettelwirtschaft when he wanted him to clean it up.

My zettelwirtschaft contains fliers, fresnel lenses, lists, feelings, notes and quotes. I figured it was an alright analogy for what this site intends to be; a little bit of this and that, something to get thoughts jotted down.

Recently I found out about the zettelkasten note taking system. It's possible I'm already utilizing parts of it and might do more in the future but I'm still learning about it!
