About this site

This is the """blog""" of the "Bindle Institute". To be so real it may be mostly/entirely me Trav Fryer who writes all the posts. I am exploring how it could be collaborative.

Most posts will not go out as emails, I endeavor to only send emails a couple times a year. You can subscribe to emails at the bottom of the page or subscribe to all posts via RSS.

Zettelwirtschaft is a German word which means, "to have everything on scraps of paper, to have notes jotted down all over the place" or as the Inky Fool puts it, "slips of paper cavorting like drunks in a bar at midnight". Someone I met at Offline told me his dad used to refer to his desk as a zettelwirtschaft when he wanted him to clean it up. He said my little notes stack I carry around is like a tiny zettelwirtschaft, so I've started calling it that.

My stack is full of fliers, Fresnel lenses, lists, zines, feelings, notes and quotes. I figure zettelwirtschaft is an alright analogy for what this site intends to be: a little bit of this and that, something to get thoughts jotted down.

Recently I found out about the zettelkasten note taking system. It's possible the way I take notes is actually more zettelkasteny than zettelwirschaft but I'm still learning about it!

If you'd like you can financially support this site/activities of the Bindle Institute recurringly or with a one-time tip. No pressure, and thank you!
